I dont think anyone is being punished by being born a witness, a flea, or a tree.
They are all experiences to be enjoyed and are short little miniscule blips in eternity.
I suspect we choose what to be before we come here or a place like this.
But the rule we make with ourself is we can not know from where we came.
We can only figure it out while we are here.

My view on reincarnation is, we are all God.
We are little parts of God. Spirits in the material world.
I dont think we are leaning anything. We are entertaining ourselves.
Earth and places like it are amusement parks. There are all kinds of rides. The ant ride, the worm ride, the dog ride
the human ride. If we could absolutely positively remember who we were, it wouldnt be as entertaining.
The only way we realize we have reincarnated is by examining all of the possibilities and seeing that
reincarnation is a posibility.
We are all one, we are all pilgrams searcing for our home.
i don't think i'm more of a spiritual person now..

I have continued to search for truth and meaning in life.
I have gone down atheist avenue.
And I have gone down spiritual avenue.
Neither road offers the ultimate answers I have been looking for.
That leaves me to believe that we are programed to be smart enough to function as we do. But dumb enough
not to know what is going on or to be able to figure it out.

I agree with you to me most of the olymics are not very exciting.
Last night I went to a get together and the olympics were on the tube and they had mens
sand lot volley ball 2 on 2.
I found myself enjoying the contest. I wouldnt have looked for it on the tube but it was there and it
entertained me for a half hour.
what did you tell your children about why you don't go to meetings anymore or aren't a witness?
especially if you have a witness spouse..
I escaped the tower in 83.
That was 7 years after 1976.
My son was 10 years old then.
I told him Jw's were a false religion, I apologized to him for exposing him to such nonsense
I also told him I was born in the organization so I didnt know any better.
As I said, he was 10 years old. You know he didnt cry any tears about not having to go to meetings or field circus.

Born in. It took me 31 years to figure out how to escape.
I was given the keys to freedom by January 1, 1976.

It's very difficult. It's impossible to know what is going on with us humans.
I agree with your thoughts on prayer.
I agree that God seems to dissapear when he is needed.
But at the same time I find it hard to believe that we evolved to our present state, condition unassisted.
So thinking outloud, man on earth has probably dealt with alien interventions thru out history.
The bible and Sumerian text could be interpreted to report of alien encounters.
There seems to be junk dna, missing pieces to our dna. Its like we are programed to be smart enough to be where we are
on earth, but we are programmed to be stupid enough not to figure out what is going on.
my mom has had visits from various jws and they have asked her if they could say a prayer before they left.
i respectfully listened to the prayers while i was visiting and might silently say amen if i felt the prayer was appropriate for my mom.. i'm just curious, how would you handle this type of situation?.
I'm not dissfellowshiped. I just stopped going to meetings 30 years ago.
Same with my wife. When we are at get togethers with my wifes witness family, they pray and I stand there
while they pray and then I eat my food.
over the years on jwn i have often found myself hunting through posts of newcomers, hoping against hope i suppose, that the newbie would be one of my former friends in the local congregation down the street.. i just find it hard to imagine that not a soul among these people has taken the courage to investigate their religion and leave like my wife and i have done.. as the local 'active apostate', i also supposed that at any moment some of the 'brothers' would come covertly to my home, knock and say something like " i am out - please let's talk about it, why i left, why you left.
but, none of the above has ever happened.
i did come across a local former jw here, from another congregation, and we have become good friends over the past few years.
I ran into a friend on here who used to play piano in my hall back in the 60's. This was back in Cleveland
I now live in Florida and she lives in California.
My best friends, a couple from the hall, who used to live next door and we went on vacation and assemblies together,
they both left the organization about 15 years after I did, and they both moved to Florida from Cleveland.
But I have never seen them on this board.
This board is not for everybody. Some people just leave and dont look back.
and what do you make of the overall social structures within the org?
and not just in the usa............................oompa.
it is not a caste system...you can move up the ranks.
I know a JW window cleaner in Cleveland. He might be a millionare. He lives in a very nice
house. He cleans the windows on all the skyscrappers in Cleveland.
Ohio Business list his income at 500,000 a year he's been doing that since the 70's.
He's probably got a few million stached away.
He left the JW's about 15 years ago and became a born again believer.
